Power & Panache Of Yesteryear

Week 28 - Hi there everyone I trust you are not all dying from heat exhaustion? What a hot weekend it truly has been, well not much photography completed this weekend due to more I.T issues AGAIN! (All be it I cannot be held responsible for hardware failing I guess?) My server died last week so I have had a rather busy weekend with data recovery and thus have had little time to head out in this scorching weather armed with my camera. This week’s image comes from the 1200 or so shots I took last week at the R.A.F Waddington air show, as I mentioned it was a true learning experience as far as light metering is concerned and I only hope that I have a better photo shoot when I go to the Farnborough air show on the 25th which just happens to be my 40th birthday too (Ouch!) well I do hope you enjoy this beautiful rendition of the sublimely classic Vulcan bomber aircraft in flight? I love the beauty of this aircraft and to think it so very old now too, again just basic processing completed within Adobes Lightroom and viola awesome! Many thanks for revisiting the blog and for all your feed-back guys have a great week Jurgen

  • Sehr gut yah! It is a gracefold old girl for sure. It almost seems like its not moving when it goes past but obviously I bet its moving very quickly. Was quite as noisey as I imagined it to be though. I think you have caught this well, just enough under body detail and even with what looks like the bomb doors open! Nice one.

  • My brother in law used to work on these things in the RAF.
That being completely irrelevant it's a good shot Jurgen. As MrC has said well exposed underneath without over-exposing the sky. If any slight criticism it could perhaps do with a touch more space on the right to fly into.

  • Great shot this, managed to get enough light underneath to show some detail, not always that easy due to shooting an image in the sky with all that light around. I disagree with the previous comment about the crop. I always take into account what is required with regard to giving a subject somewhere to travel to. However with this shot and the angle of the aircraft, this crop gives the impression of 3-dimention and the feel of the subject coming out of the frame. I guess this is down to personal preference rather than right or wrong. Another great shot Jurg’s for your archive.
